NOKIA MAY BE MAKING A COMEBACK WITH A LINE OF PREMIUM SMARTPHONES
Nokia is gearing up to regain its place in the smartphone world by launching a line of premium android powered smartphones later this year.
Nokia used to be one of the most trusted cell phone manufacturer’s once upon a time, and then Blackberry, Apple, Samsung, and Android happened. Now though, the company has signed a licensing agreement with Finnish company HMD Global OY, to develop a new line of Nokia branded smartphones. Nokia released a statement stating that it will soon be making a come-back in the worldwide tablet and smartphone market.
The joint management team of Nokia in China has confirmed that new range of Nokia phones will be high-end smartphones and tablets. The new range of this once great company is confirmed to be released in the last quarter of this year.
The company has not yet said a word about the smartphone’s specification. Although, there are rumors going around that Nokia will be launching two premium-level smartphones, both featuring Android 7.0 Nougat. The phones will feature powerful 820 Snapdragon processors, the two phones; one 5.2 inches and the other 5.5 inches. Both smartphones will feature a metal build and a 22.6 MP rear camera. The rumor has it that both phones will also be water and dust resistant.
Nokia has or rather had always been famous for making rugged, high performing, and reliable phones. Now that HMD Global OY has taken up the challenge to revive this giant from the past, they will have to work hard, very had and diligently to not only live up to but to exceed expectations of Nokia’s loyalists. Even though the launch is expected towards the end of this year, there is a high chance of delays due to product testing and quality assurance. If Nokia phones are running on Android platforms, and the company can instill some of its past essence into the new phones, then it will be very interesting to see what happens. Apple and Samsung may just have new competition, that if comes back in full form will be a force to reckon with.
